Thank you for your interest and welcome to M.C. Diesel. Mark Horstmann started M.C. Diesel in 2003. Mark previously worked for Rust Tractor Company (the Catepillar Dealer in New Mexico) for about 12 years. When Mr. Rust sold his business, Mark soon discovered that it would be in his best interest to take the next steps into business ownership.

Mark worked for three more years, but during this time he was taking steps to start his own company. First he reached out to the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute Small Business Development center, and with their help came up with a solid business plan. With that plan he contacted the Albuquerque Community loan fund and was provided a business loan for a service truck. Mark built the service truck on a used International 4700 chassis, installing a service body, crane and all the necessary equipment to make it a functioning service truck. He worked from that truck for several years, but ultimately found that he was limited to the type of work he could do, mostly roadside repairs or relying on a customer to have a shop to perform major engine repairs.

Mark soon found it necessary to work from his own shop. He rented a small two bay shop in Rio Rancho for several years, using the shop as well as continuing use of his service truck. After his original location, the shop was moved to a location on Aspen Road, right along I-40. This proved to be a great location, except that it was not his own. In 2013 Mark purchased his own shop and building in the south valley of Albuquerque. This is where you will find M.C Diesel and Mark.

Mark is proud to have a striving, busy business over the last 15 years with a large, satisfied customer base.
